This Bride Chose Her Vivienne Westwood Dress, Designed Her Jimmy Choo Wedding Shoes And Picked Her Venue All In One Day

Looking back on the night that Pilates by Bryony founder Bryony Deery’s boyfriend of two years, Joe & The Juice founder Kaspar Basse, proposed, all the clues were there – despite his attempts at subterfuge. “Kaspar had booked the exact same table where we had our first solo date at Maison Estelle,” she explains. “We were set up initially by our mutual friend, Hoss, on a blind double date, in October 2022. Just over two years later, the night before we were relocating from London to Copenhagen with our dog, Pizza, Kaspar took me out for a ‘goodbye London’ dinner. Little did I know he was about to get down on one knee!”
Kaspar proposed with a ring he had designed with Stephen Webster – a close friend of the couple. “They did it without any input from me whatsoever and I couldn’t have wished for anything more special and unique,” shares Bryony. “Stephen is a very special friend of ours and we always like everything to feel personal and meaningful.”
Bryony always knew she was going to wear Westwood on her wedding day. “I never really had a dream of a traditional big white wedding dress, and Vivienne Westwood’s designs just felt so cool but still classic,” she explains. The couple had one day in London in early December, and the bride tasked herself with choosing her dress, designing her shoes, picking a venue and meeting her wedding planner, Alice Wilkes. “It was all very last minute and quick, but I love doing things like that,” she explains. “We are both very impulsive people and it’s just never been stressful… I can honestly say we enjoyed every minute of the planning process.”
Bryony tried on just three dresses at her Westwood appointment before settling on The One. “I never thought I’d wear a strapless dress but as soon as I tried this dress on I instantly felt myself,” she says. “It felt simple and elegant but cool and timeless at the same time. It was sexy on the top with its classic Vivienne Westwood corset detailing, but more traditional on the bottom half with the silk draped skirt. I wore it with a Vivienne Westwood veil for the ceremony that was covered in hearts at the bottom, and wore long satin gloves for the drinks reception.”
Next she headed to Jimmy Choo, where she designed her wedding shoes. “It was such a special moment with my mum and my friend Rebecca,” she says. “I love all of the sentimental memories that come with planning a wedding. I chose a timeless classic style combined with a modern shape, in keeping with my overall look.” For her jewellery, she chose a tennis necklace designed by Stephen Webster and Jessica McCormack diamond stud earrings. “I really wanted to feel timeless but with a sexy relaxed vibe, especially as the wedding was in the evening,” she explains.
As self-confessed “non-traditional wedding people”, the couple decided to elope to Las Vegas for their legal wedding, flying there and back just one week before their bigger celebration. “It was the most fun and romantic thing we have ever done,” laughs Bryony. Their main wedding took place in London on 2 March, with 100 friends flying in from across the globe.
Bryony, who turned to her best friend and skincare guru Pandora Long for facials and microneedling in the run up to her big day, wanted her wedding morning to be wellness-focused and calm. She started her day with a debloat class from her app, followed by some cryotherapy and a walk with her mum to the farmers’ market in Marylebone. As a global wellness expert for Dior Beauty, there was only ever one brand in the running when it came to her make-up. “I feel such a part of the Dior Beauty family that it was a really natural choice for me,” she explains. “I also was lucky enough to have my friend Francesca Abrahamovitch do mine and my mum’s make-up for the day – she makes me feel so confident, but still like myself. She’s so incredibly talented.” The brief was glowing skin, softly defined eyes and just a hint of colour on the lips and cheeks to bring the whole look together. Her hairstylist Gabrielle Thompson created Bryony’s go-to “cool girl wave” – albeit a little more elevated – while Julia Diogo painted her nails an elegant shade of soft pink.
The ceremony took place at 6pm in the ballroom at London’s Hotel Café Royal. “The whole room was candlelit and it was so cosy and romantic,” shares Bryony. “Kaspar’s best friend Morten Albaek married us and gave the most intimate and meaningful ceremony that felt so personal to us.” Bryony’s father walked her down the aisle, with her niece and nephew acting as flower girl and flower boy, “although he was more focused on his toy car that Kaspar’s mother had given him just before the ceremony. My five-year-old niece Arya, who sprinkled rose petals down the aisle, took her job very seriously and now keeps telling everyone at school that she has a new uncle, which is the sweetest.” Kaspar’s niece and nephew, meanwhile, did a special reading of Beauty and the Beast, replacing the main characters with Bryony and Kaspar. “This was such a special moment for us both,” the bride says now.
After the ceremony, guests were driven in V-Class Mercedes cars to Louie in Soho, a favourite spot of the bride and groom. Guests could choose from linguine vongole, sea bass or steak and fries, all paired with Kaspar’s favourite wines, followed by April's Baker chocolate cake for dessert. “I think so often wedding food can be quite formal and fancy because ‘it's a wedding’, and not actually what people would truly choose to eat,” says Bryony. “But we just wanted it to be about what we actually like and would imagine everyone else appreciating too. Who doesn’t love pizza, pasta and chocolate cake?”
French band Gypsy Queen provided the soundtrack for dinner, and later the couple had their first dance to “Adore You” by Hugel. “Kaspar picked me up and spun me round and all our guests joined in to dance with us,” says Bryony. “That moment was everything!” Margaritas “Bryony style” (no salt, no sugar, on the rocks – one large ice cube – with a tiny splash of Triple Sec and Lalo tequila) were free-flowing, with guests dancing all night long to DJ Sam and a special set by Jimmy Sax, who flew in from Mauritius for just 24 hours to play at the wedding. As the evening wound down, guests were treated to a little pick-me-up: “BLTs from Joe & the Juice, of course!”
