All The Best Red-Carpet Looks From The 2026 Cannes Film Festival

If you were disappointed by the lack of naked dressing at the Met Gala, A) behave, and B) look to the Cannes Film Festival, which – having been responsible for the literal birth of the bikini in the 1950s – added a sudden caveat to its dress code on the eve of last year’s event. “For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,” the updated rules read. “Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre are not permitted.”
Whether any of that actually influenced what celebrities wore was debatable. (Remember the response to the old “high heels only” protocol?) It certainly did not stop Alexander Skarsgård, who managed to flout both directives in one fell swoop, arriving on the red carpet in thigh-high Saint Laurent boots that were – let’s face it – both indecent and highly effective at hindering the proper flow of traffic. Part of what made the actor’s look so compelling was that it ran in opposition to the very particular brand of glamour the Riviera is known for: black-tie ball gowns, diamonds accompanied by their own security detail, the siren force of Monica Bellucci in 1997.
All of which is to say: between 12 and 23 May, the eyes of the fashion industry will remain firmly trained on La Croisette, where jury member Demi Moore will be joined by the likes of Gillian Anderson, Bella Hadid, Scarlett Johansson, Renate Reinsve, Penélope Cruz, Cara Delevingne, Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, Ayo Edebiri and Isabelle Huppert on the red carpet. Scroll through the gallery below for all of these stars – and doubtless many more – arriving at the 2026 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
