With great power comes great responsibility, and with A-lister status comes the ability to make or break an It-bag. Case in point: Kate Moss’s beaten-up Balenciaga Le City, or Jane Birkin and her weathered Hermès. The latest must-have accessory to enter the chat, as seen tucked in the crook of Demi Moore’s arm as she touched down at Cannes, is Gucci’s Borsetto bag (the name is a portmanteau of borsa, meaning bag, and morsetto, meaning horsebit, for the linguists out there).
Neither ludicrously capacious nor so bijou as to be impractical, the perfectly proportioned monogrammed accessory is Demna’s updated nod to the Ophidia Boston bag, complete with Gucci’s signature web stripe and monogrammed canvas. The Ophidia was introduced in 2018 under Alessandro Michele’s tenure, but takes its cues from Gucci’s ’70s accessories. Moore styled it with a pre-fall 2026 bomber jacket, letting the logomania of her Borsetto bag do the talking against a pared-back backdrop of neutrals and black.
Moore is on the Cannes Film Festival jury this year, so fans can expect plenty of headline-making looks from the star during her stint in South of France. A dedicated Gucci girl, earlier this year, Demi attended Demna’s debut Gucci runway show with perhaps the brand’s most famous canine fan, Pilaf, in tow.
She’s far from the only fan of the Borsetto: the style has already been spotted slung over the shoulders of Alex Consani, Vittoria Ceretti and Anne Hathaway. Although baggage restrictions are unlikely to be an issue the star of The Substance concerns herself with, for any readers planning a weekend away, you could do worse than the Borsetto to add a little glamour to your flight-ready accessories rotation. Just make sure to pair it with oversized sunglasses and skin-tight trousers, for the full Demi Moore effect.
