Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry can always be counted on for something a little tongue in cheek, even in the rarefied air of Paris couture week. Remember the lion’s head gown worn by Kylie Jenner in January 2023, and the ensuing social media meltdown?

Then there was the American provocateur’s most recent couture show, which featured conversation-starting costume jewellery inspired by the Louvre heist. (In October 2025, priceless royal diadems, brooches and earrings were stolen from the museum in a robbery that became instantly infamous.) Walking home from Schiaparelli HQ in the days after the theft, Roseberry began plotting a way to reimagine the pieces, in even more opulent iterations than the diamond-and-emerald-topped originals.

Who better to give the pieces a turn on the red carpet than the aforementioned Jenner sister? Kylie turned her attention to Roseberry’s humorous haute couture ahead of the 2026 Met Gala. Tapping into the preoccupation with wearable-art-inspired moulded-bodices, the youngest of the KarJenners wore a nude corset and voluminous satin skirt, embroidered with over 10,000 natural baroque pearls and over 7,000 painted pearly fish scales. Nearly 11,000 hours worth of embroidery went into the design, which complemented both Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner’s sculpted bodices (by Allen Jones for Whitaker Malem and Gap by Zac Posen, respectively).

And while many A-listers opted for priceless jewels to go with their gowns (see Emily Blunt’s Mikimoto pearl body necklace), Jenner reached instead for Roseberry’s heist-inspired costume jewels, festooned with pearls and rhinestones.
