Boots might not be an obvious choice for the warmer months, but fashion’s favourite It-girls have long proved that sturdy stompers shouldn’t be the reserve of winter. From Glastonbury fields to summer heatwaves in the city, celebrities never shy away from the fact that boots are a year-round staple, styled with everything from floaty sundresses to micro shorts and sporty mini dresses.
Most recently, eternally stylish Amal Clooney stepped out for her husband’s 65th birthday in Saint-Tropez wearing a full look from Pucci’s spring 2026 runway, a beaded tank top and ultra miniskirt with thigh slits. On her feet, slouchy black boots with a graphic matching foldover. She styled the look with a ruffled black East-West bag and oversized sunglasses.
Of course, if temperatures are particularly high, there’s always room for ballet flats or barely-there sandals, but there’s something undeniably cool about grounding a breezy summer look with a heavier boot, or making a minidress feel more polished with a sleek heeled style. Plus, in the UK at least, summer weather is rarely reliable enough to fully retire your leather favourites.
The festival field immediately springs to mind when thinking about some of the most memorable summer boot moments. Think Lily Allen in muddy Hunter wellies and a rah-rah skirt, or Alexa Chung pairing boho summer dresses with black leather knee-highs, usually finished with an obligatory Barbour jacket.
But there are equally strong examples of warm-weather summer boots styling in the city too, courtesy of Bella Hadid, Charli XCX and Hailey Bieber. Picture collared polo dresses styled with sleek point-toe boots and denim cut-offs and cycling shorts offset with chunky knee-high biker boots.
Whether styled with lace-trim slips, relaxed tailoring or bohemian textures like ruffles and crochet, boots deserve equal footing as a certified summer staple. From festival fields to city streets, here are seven celebrity-approved ways to wear summer boots this season.
