We can diligently follow an extensive skin or haircare routine, but if we don’t nourish our bodies from the inside out, the results – whether boosting skin elasticity, enhancing glow, reducing inflammation or growing long locks – are unlikely to materialise. The same principle applies to digestion and overall health: diet is the foundation. Yet many of us struggle to get all the nutrients and vitamins we need from food alone, despite filling our plates with leafy greens or protein-focused meals, which is where supplementation comes in.

The supplement market can be overwhelming. It’s a minefield of options and bold claims that can feel confusing or even contradictory. You only need to head to Holland & Barrett or Amazon’s packed virtual shelves to see hundreds upon thousands of options for hyped-about supplements like collagen, protein powders or magnesium.

To make sense of it, I consulted nutritionists and dietary experts to identify the supplement combinations they recommend. They shared the exact add-ons they take to bridge nutritional gaps, correct deficiencies, or support specific health needs – whether addressing ageing, sun exposure (or the lackthereof) or low energy.

Supplementation can also be particularly useful for those on restrictive diets, but it is important to note that they should complement rather than replace a healthy diet to ensure all essential nutrients are covered. The approach should be holistic, pairing them with good lifestyle habits like wearing SPF daily and avoiding excessive sugar and alcohol. You want to look for high-quality, clean and researched supplements, and make sure it is something that you actually need.

ARTAH

Essential Creatine

You may have heard the hype around creatine in the wellness space, and Tina Lond-Caulk says it’s well-deserved. “Creatine is a staple,” she stresses, “and I use Artah creatine because of its clean formulation and focus on quality sourcing. Research increasingly supports its role in cognitive function, energy production, and healthy ageing – particularly for women, where it can support muscle maintenance and overall resilience.”

Ancient + Brave

True Collagen

Ancient + Brave’s collagen supplements are a favourite of not just one but two of the nutritionists that we consulted. Tina Lond-Caulk reveals why it’s a daily essential for her. “For connective tissue, skin integrity, and recovery, I include collagen peptides from Ancient + Brave. I appreciate their sourcing standards and simplicity, and collagen is one of those supplements I find easy to integrate into daily rituals. I love the travel sachets, which I add to my coffee on the go. From a clinical perspective, collagen provides targeted amino acids that support structural tissues, which becomes increasingly relevant as we age.” Maz Packman agrees, but it’s the Ancient + Brave Noble Collagen that she prefers. “I take it every day. It’s a type 2 collagen, which specifically helps joints and has boswelia, which is anti-inflammatory and good for keeping joint pain away.”

Bare Biology

Omega-3 Super-Strength Fish Oil

VJ Hamilton tells me, “As a nutritionist, my supplement routine is quite simple and tends to focus on filling the gaps that modern life inevitably creates. One of the things I consistently take is an omega-3, particularly during periods when I’m not eating enough oily fish. I like Bare Biology because the quality and purity are excellent, and omega-3s play such an important role in regulating inflammation, supporting brain function, and calming the nervous system.” This recommendation is seconded by The Nutrition Guru Tina Lond-Caulk too. “I choose Bare Biology because of their transparency around sourcing, purity testing, and meaningful EPA and DHA concentrations. Omega-3s are fundamental to our inflammatory balance, cardiovascular health, and brain structure, and I typically aim for a daily intake that supports an Omega-3 Index in the region of 8-12 per cent, verified yearly with the OmegaQuant test.”

Wiley’s Finest

Peak EPA

“I take a high dose of omega-3s every day,” reveals nutritionist Dale Pinnock, “specifically Wiley’s Finest Peak EPA (Omega-3), because of the anti-inflammatory benefits. It also supports cognitive function and immune health, which are all areas I prioritise.”

Inessa

Magnesium

  • Why it’s Vogue-approved: Maz Packman waxes lyrical on Inessa’s Magnesium supplement, which she reveals that she takes every night. “I love that it contains three different forms of magnesium,” she explains. The supplement is designed to support overall health, from combating tiredness to muscle, bone and teeth function.
  • Type of magnesium: Magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium threonate, natural marine magnesium from purified seawater
  • Magnesium per serving: 306mg
  • Serving size: 2 capsules
  • Form: Capsules

BodyBio Calm

“On busier days, or when I know my nervous system has been under more load through travel, work intensity, or disrupted sleep, I often use CALM by BodyBio,” explains nutritionist VJ Hamilton. “It’s a phosphatidylserine-based formula, which helps regulate the stress response and cortisol rhythm, so it can be really helpful for switching out of that wired, overstimulated state and into a more restorative one. If I don’t use that specific product, I’ll still often take phosphatidylserine on its own for similar reasons.”

IM8 Health Ultimate Daily Formula

For Nutrition Guru Tina Lond-Caulk, it’s about quality, not quantity. “Over time, I’ve refined a small group of products that work together as a foundation rather than a long list of disconnected additions and endless pills and capsules,” she says. “One of those foundations is the Ultimate Daily Formula from IM8 Health, which I’ve used consistently for over a year. What initially appealed to me was its systems-based approach, designed by NASA and Mayo Clinic scientists. The formulas are NSF certified and third-party tested for efficacy and purity. I love the individual sachets and broad nutritional coverage without needing separate products. The formula includes greens, superfoods, pre and probiotics, digestive enzymes, amino acids and hydration support, plus compounds that align with areas I prioritise clinically – such as full clinical effective doses CoQ10 for cardiovascular support, lion’s mane for cognitive function, and adaptogenic herbs that help buffer stress load. I don’t see it as a replacement for diet, but rather as a reliable nutritional baseline that fills gaps created by modern lifestyles.”

Time Health Ubiquinol

Pinnock lauds the benefits of ubiquinol (CoQ10) each morning to support mitochondrial health and ATP production. “I take ubiquinol every day because it is a highly absorbable form of CoQ10 and a key player in mitochondrial health and ATP production, which is essential for cellular energy,” he says.

Heliocare

Oral Capsules

Dubbed one of the most revolutionary skincare products by consultant dermatologist Dr Ophelia Veraitch for its antioxidant benefits, regenerative medicine specialist Dr Asima Nasir also swears by Fernblock. She details, “I take Fernblock for additional antioxidant protection against environmental stressors, and glutathione to support cellular health and combat oxidative stress. For me, supplementation isn’t about trends – it’s about internal optimisation. When the body is balanced and supported at a cellular level, the skin reflects that vitality naturally.”

Elle Sera Liposomal Magnesium

One of the most used minerals in the body, nutritionist Dale Pinnock supplements magnesium and in particular, the ones from Elle Sera. “I take liposomal magnesium in the evening as part of my nighttime routine,” he shares. “Magnesium helps calm the nervous system and supports relaxation, making it much easier for me to switch off. Combined with glycine and L-theanine, it has made a noticeable difference to the quality of my sleep.”
