You can spot French-girl bangs from a mile away. Eye-grazing and full of volume, they add instant interest while blending seamlessly into the rest of the hair. Model Cara Delevingne – a beauty chameleon who has experimented with pretty much every hairstyle you can imagine – appeared at Cannes Film Festival on Friday showing off a new, and entirely Riviera appropriate, French-girl fringe.

Often attributed to the late style muse Jane Birkin, French bangs are defined by their face-framing “lived in” feel. They’re also very versatile and can be styled curly, like Cara’s, straightened, or tousled with texture spray for a casual look. Delevingne has worked with celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak (whose clients include Emma Stone) in the past, previously experimenting with everything from short crops to wolf cuts to super sleek ponytails.

To nail the look, ask your hairstylist for a full fringe that is tapered to be long and even on both sides. When maintaining the cut at home, always blow-dry your bangs forward using a round brush, then gently let them fall naturally into your hair. According to Larry King, they’ll look even better on the second day.
